Trainer:
Name: Charlie Martin
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 140 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Blonde, and very long and shaggy (down to the base of his neck)
Favorite Food: Instant noodles (he’s like a magician making them)

Hometown: Verdanturf Town, Hoenn

Current Place of Living: Small hut near the Starry Night Pokemon Shelter and Adoption Agency, outside Mauville City, Hoenn

Physical Marks/Distinguishing Features: Lots of scars along his body, from the various cuts, bites, slashes, and the rare stabbing that happen whenever a person might try to stop a Pokemon from lashing out. Almost all of them aren’t visible since he tends to wear long-sleeve shirts, hooded jackets or sweatshirts, and jeans.

History: The son of two Pokemon breeders, Charlie’s spent his whole life surrounded by Pokemon and interacting with them. He was frequently involved with his parents’ work, helping them with feeding and caring for the numerous types of Pokemon that they ended up working with. Charlie never underwent a formal education, mostly learning stuff from his parents, books he read, the occasional outside help, and actually learning himself working with Pokemon. He tried being a professional trainer, but didn’t make it very far before deciding that caring for Pokemon was more his style. He still does some casual battles, but mostly as exercise and makes sure they aren’t too brutal.

Charlie got hired by the Starry Night Pokemon Shelter and Adoption Agency when he was eighteen, helping them rescue and care for Pokemon that had been living with abusive conditions or trainers, as well as finding good homes for them. He’s also been involved with similar groups in the various other regions of the world, from Kanto and Johto to Unova and Sinnoh.
Personality: Charlie is a very laid-back kind of guy. He greatly enjoys meeting new people and Pokemon, occasionally to the point that he might lose track of what the original conversation was supposed to be about. Charlie doesn’t take a lot of things too seriously, very rarely even raising his voice beyond a generally soft, conversational tone. The best way to break this is to, in some way, be abusing your Pokemon. He has a very zero-tolerance policy towards it, having seen its effects, and will not hesitate to get in your face about it.

Charlie also doesn’t have a very expensive taste. He lives in a pretty Spartan style, with mostly just basic necessities for himself and his Pokemon. One of the few things that he does splurge on, however, is his collection of hooded jackets and sweatshirts. He has a large collection and wears all of them, making sure to clean them all properly. The one he’s looking for the most, however, is an actual Team Magma hoodie. He’s been saving up to purchase one the second he can find one.
Skills: Charlie knows a lot about taking care of serious wounds and injuries out in the field, but not enough for permanent care. Essentially, his methods are dirty, quick, and meant to be effective long enough to transport the Pokemon to more traditional, better care. He’s also absurdly good with making instant noodle mixes.

Finally, he does know how to swim, if the subject ever comes up.

Pokemon #1:
Name: Trouble
Type: Absol
Gender: Male
Ability: Super Luck
Nature: Impish
Move Set: Night Slash, Sucker Punch, Taunt, Double Team, Return
Held Items: Black Glasses

Battle Strategy: Tries to keep opponents guessing, attempting to make them flustered and confused and attacking them while they are raging and angry. By making the opponent be off-balance, Trouble will exploit the fight and make it work on his terms. Often cracks jokes or put-downs to accomplish this.

Personality/History: Charlie’s first ever Pokemon, Trouble has been with him the longest, and as such the two have a very close friendship. They often play around with each other, with Trouble occasionally hiding some of Charlie’s things for jokes. Trouble’s a prankster through and through and loves joking around. He’s close to everyone on Charlie’s team, and often tries to lighten the mood.

Physical Attributes/Notable Features: None

Ball: Standard PokeBall

Pokemon #2:
Name: Leonardo
Type: Arcanine
Gender: Male
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Brave
Move Set: Fire Fang, ExtremeSpeed, Flamethrower, Howl, Strength
Held Items: None

Battle Strategy: Leonardo takes battles very seriously. He believes that any fight should be done one-on-one. He’ll take commands, but he will NOT back down or hold back, even when close to fainting. Leonardo gets very angry when his opponents use “cheap” tricks (such as running away, hiding, or being somewhat sneaky) and doesn’t fight “properly”, which can make him lose his cool.

Personality/History: Leonardo was first Pokemon that Charlie adopted shortly after he began working as at the Starry Night Pokemon Shelter and Adoption Agency. Leonardo is extremely protective of Charlie and makes himself the first line of defense whenever Charlie or the rest of the team are threatened. He’s very much a father figure to the group. When interacting with others, he’s very polite and formal.

Physical Attributes/Noticeable Features: None in particular.

Ball: Standard PokeBall

Pokemon #3:
Name: Duke
Type: Feraligatr
Gender: Male
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Relaxed
Move Set: Surf, Water Gun, Crunch, Scary Face, Water Pulse
Held Items: Chesto Berry

Battle Strategy: Duke is a very relaxed type of fighter, often preferring for the battle to be brought to him. He will try to have his opponent attack all they want, then calmly switch up the battle so it fights on his own terms. He doesn’t really like exerting much energy running around, so he will often stay in a small area and try to keep the fight there.

Personality/History: Charlie’s second ever non-adopted Pokemon (raised from a Totodile), Duke is a very chill dude. He frequently is used as a neutral party if there are any arguments in the group. He is not very hard to approach, and is casual in almost any interactions. It will probably take more than anyone has ever seen for Duke to lose his cool.

Physical Attributes/Notable Features: None

Ball: Standard PokeBall

Pokemon #4:
Name: Tyson
Type: Scizor
Gender: Male
Ability: Technician
Nature: Serious
Held Item: Muscle Band
Move Set: Metal Claw, X-Scissor, Swords Dance, Brick Break, Agility

Battle Strategy: Tyson fights. He will focus on attacking and solely on attacking, even if it might put himself in more harm than if he held back. Likes going all out in every way, trying to take down his opponent as fast as possible, and gets frustrated and angry at “weakness”, either his opponent’s, his partner’s, or even his own.

Personality/History: Tyson is the most recent addition to Charlie’s team. He was originally part of a very underground battling circuit that went much farther in fights than professional, legal battles, often to serious injury or death. Charlie was adopted from the Starry Night very recently, having been treated for abnormally high aggression, anger issues, and so on. Charlie’s still trying to take care of him, hoping that an introduction to a more stable group of Pokemon than the ones Tyson had previously been exposed to. Tyson does have loyalty to Charlie, for both caring for him and giving him a chance, but he doesn’t get along well with the rest of the group.

Physical Attributes/Notable Features: Several cuts along his body. Two prominent ones are along the lower right side of his face.

Ball: Standard PokeBall

Pokemon #5:
Name: Pallas
Type: Pidgeot
Gender: Female
Ability: Keen Eye
Nature: Hasty
Held Item: Cheri Berry
Move Set: Wing Attack, Fly, Gust, Aerial Ace, Air Slash

Battle Strategy: Pallas loves to soar around the open skies, and will try to have the battle be more open and free as she can. Anything that will allow her for more movement, she will try. After that, her strategy is simple: Fly in close to the target, attack with a few moves, back out as fast as she can, repeat as long as necessary.

Personality/History: Charlie’s second adopted Pokemon, Pallas was rescued from a hoarder when she was still a Pigeotto, and had spent a lot of time living in a small, cramped cage. Charlie was able to help develop Pallas’s wings properly, and be more comfortable with flying around outside. To this day, Pallas loves simply flying around everywhere as fast as she can, simply enjoying the ability to move. She is very active, and greatly enjoys meeting and playing around with other Pokemon.

Physical Attributes/Notable Features: None.

Ball: Standard Pokeball

Pokemon #6
Name: Barra
Type: Vibrava UPDATE: Flygon
Gender: Female
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Careful
Held Item: None
Move Set: Earth Power, Earthquake, Mud-Slap, DragonBreath, Rock Slide, UPDATE: Dragon Tail

Battle Strategy: Barra is very cautious, almost to a fault. She will attempt to avoid physical, pure 1-on-1 confrontations unless the target is absolutely, totally helpless. She tries to attack from a distance as much as possible.

History/Personality:  Barra is Charlie’s third adopted Pokemon, having been rescued from nearly dying out in the wild. She is very hesitant and only likes to approach new people and Pokemon if either Charlie or one of the group is already making the first step. Even when interacting with others, Barra is remarkably polite and conceding, more out of an attempt to appeasement than anything else.

Physical Attributes/Notable Features: None

Ball: Standard PokeBall
Audition: Can be found HERE (will link in a bit).

So, this is the trainer and Pokemon team that I will be using for :iconstaboct:

I have to say that I'm really looking forward to this.

And just in case if anyone is wondering: "Trouble" comes from the name of my first ever pet (a tabby cat my dad found in his car engine...after he had been driving for several miles. I swear to God I am not making that up.), and Pallas and Barra are the names of two females characters from some of Matthew Stover's works (who is an amazing author and you should READ HIS STUFF!)

Questions, comments, etc. please leave them below!

I... I'm out on this one. Pokemon and I have moral arguments of a sort, and I tend to muck up logic in it. I hope tis fun, but this is one of the rare instances I will be skipping something. ^^; My apologies!
